ABOUT THE SERVICE

Fire Safety For
The Places
People Work.

Fire Protection Sheffield brings commercial fire-safety enquiries together in one place. From understanding a risk assessment to arranging equipment servicing, we help businesses identify a sensible starting point.

OUR FOCUS

Commercial Premises.
Practical Questions.

Our focus is the workplace: factories, offices, warehouses, schools, retail premises and commercial kitchens. The starting point is understanding the building, who uses it and what has changed. That context helps define the assessment, inspection or equipment work needed.

A facilities manager may need an alarm maintenance programme. A contractor may need a new installation scoped before a fit-out. A commercial landlord may need a door inspection schedule that identifies defects by location.

We explain the service boundaries so you can ask useful questions before agreeing work.

HOW ENQUIRIES WORK

The Next Step
Should Be Clear.

When you send an enquiry, we ask for your agreement before passing the details to a suitable local firm. That firm can discuss the premises, confirm availability and explain whether a survey is needed before quoting. You choose whether to accept the proposed work.

Competence, scope and documentation matter. Ask the proposed contractor about experience with your building type, the standards relevant to the task and the records you will receive. No accreditation, membership or approval should be assumed from appearing on this website.

STANDARDS & RESPONSIBILITY

Equipment And
Management
Work Together.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 provides the main fire-safety framework for commercial premises in England. Technical references include BS 5839-1 for alarm systems, BS 5266-1 for emergency lighting and BS 5306-3 for extinguisher maintenance. The applicable requirements need to be agreed for each scope.

The responsible person retains the duty to manage fire safety. An inspection report or a service visit supports that work, but does not replace routine checks, staff instruction or timely action on defects. Read our buyer questions or explore the service guides to prepare your enquiry.
